Reviewing the Appreciative Enquiry Methodology

This was a new method of research for many of the colleagues and individuals felt that:-

  • It was a positive way of thinking
  • Organised and effective
  • Informative
  • Experiential learning based
  • Challenging as a methodology
  • Forced people to think positively
  • Demanding as a method, because of the researcher commitment to the approach required.
  • New skills were sometimes needed to phrase questions appropriately and help others to view all experiences as positive
  • Good approach for nursing practice
  • Consistent core (AI data collection) was built to manage negativity
  • Method fits with change management
  • Can be used as a personal methodology
  • Motivation for change part of very good method
